Football and Finance Conference, March 23-24, 2012

University of Muenster, Germany

Alexander Dilger (University of Muenster) and Bernd Frick (University of Paderborn) organized the second Football and Finance Conference, hosted by the University of Muenster. In attendance were about 30 sports economists from Europe and North America, several of whom are active members in the North American Association of Sports Economists.  The group heard 17 presentations over the day and a half of the conference on topics ranging from match-fixing and corruption to the impact of managerial change, competitive balance, and attendance and television demand.  The conference concluded with many of the participants attending a football match between FC Schalke 04 and Bayer 04 Leverkusen.  A selection of the papers will appear as a special issue of the International Journal of Sport Finance.
